This piece is part of the Landscape Collection inspired by my year-long residency on the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, one of the last unspoiled public open spaces along the California coast. Display or use as a vase.
THE STORY: When following the trail toward the pine trees, the path leads up the hillside and into the woods. The palette of the seasons goes from browns and golds to blues and greens – changes captures on this vessel and punctuated with burnished circles of color.
ABOUT: This piece is handmade from slabs of clay. After forming, I cut and altered the piece to add embossed areas with plants and branches. I added other marks and stamps to give visual interest to the form and lead the viewers eye through the "landscape" of the vessel.
The piece is multi-fired with underglazes and glazes to achieve various colors and textures. Like the landscape it represents, it looks different from every angle.
SIZE: 10.75" H x 6" W x 3.5"D
Piece will be shipped/delivered after "On the Trail" show closed on Feb. 2.
