This piece is part of the Wall Tile Collection inspired by my year-long residency on the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, one of the last unspoiled public open spaces along the California coast.
ABOUT: This round convex handmade tile features embossed plant forms, small stones and a portion of the trail map glazed onto the surface in the upper left section. The colors, textures, marks and map imagery represents the memory of a hike through the preserve.
The piece is multi-fired with underglazes and glazes to achieve various colors and textures. The map is an underglaze decal that is fired onto the piece. The stones are embedded into permanent adhesive in an inset area of the tile.
It is ready to hang inside or out.
