Family Tree is handmade and hand-etched in a woodcut-style design. Perfect for a nature-lover's table, it portrays a folk-art style figure surrounded by branches and swirling leaves. A bird serenades from atop the figure. After etching, a wash of light red was applied to the bird and figure's cheeks.
The piece is food-safe and can be used as a serving piece, pasta or salad bowl. Or plant it was succulents for a decorative accent that's sure to be a conversation starter.

The imagery was created in my woodcut-style design, using traditional sgraffito (etching) techniques in a contemporary way.
It was etched through a black underglaze, and then bisque-fired to approximately 1945 degrees/F. The etched section was covered with a clear glaze and the remainder glazed with a contrasting matte black. It was final fired to approx. 2200 degrees/F
